Magician Ron Ishimaru, a member of the Hilo High School class of 1965, recently was inducted as president of the Society of American Magicians during its national convention.
Ishimaru is the 102nd national president, following the likes of Harry Houdini (Ehrich Weiss) and Howard Thurston. He also is the first American of Japanese ancestry in the society’s 116-year history to hold this position.
The Society of American Magicians is the world’s oldest and most prestigious magic organization with a worldwide membership of 5,000 professional and amateur magicians.
